Jiang.........Honored by Chinese Government

|
Jiang Tiefeng's career is moving forward at full strength. His paintings and sculptures continue to change and evolve into new genres. Jiang is being discovered by a new generation of collectors and rediscovered by past collectors. In the past, he was often at odds with the established state controlled art institutions of his native China. Jiang is now becoming known as the most important contemporary Chinese artist. He has created his own unique style and the founding principles and tenets of an art movement known universally as the Yunnan School.
The high regard for Jiang as an artist is evident in the special honors bestowed upon him at the West Lake International Art Expo in picturesque Hangzhou, China. This expo was sponsored by the Chinese Government, and held at the Zhejiang Museum of Contemporary Art from November 1st to November 6, 2002. |

Special honors were awarded to Jiang who had a 3 meter high sculpture "Speed" installed at the entrance of the Zhejiang Museum and a 7 x 8 ft. Painting "Supreme Jungle" acquired for the museum's permanent collection. Three other gigantic paintings, "The Past Dream", "Flying to Heaven" and Jiangs internationally acclaimed painting "Speed" which the artist used as a blue print for his sculpture, were on view for the expo. Earlier in August 2002, a 15 ft. sculpture "Bright Future" was installed in the Peoples Park in Beijing
Due to prior commitments, Jiang was unable to attend the expo and was represented by Mr. Rann Shinar, Vice President of Fingerhut Group Publishers. Fingerhut has successfully promoted Jiang's career and marketed his highly successful graphics program for almost 25 years. Mr. Shinar attended the unveiling of the sculpture and delivered an enthusiastic presentation of the artist's work, achievements and influence on the American contemporary art scene at the symposium. Mr. Shinar also discussed Fingerhut Group Publishers participating in future Jiang exhibitions with several directors of museums in other parts of China. |
